  • Free transfers for life available to all Toss customers… Approximately 980 million transfers made last year
  • Providing small everyday benefits such as points through Toss Walk and Open Toss Together

Viva Republica, the operator of the financial super app “Toss,” has released data on key benefits it provided to users throughout 2024. Toss benefits are divided into services that reduce costs, such as free transfers, and services that provide rewards, such as “Toss Walk.”

Toss users made approximately 980 million transfers. Assuming a transfer fee of 500 KRW per transaction, each user saved an average of about 40,000 KRW in transfer fees annually. Toss launched its simple money transfer service in 2015 and has been a pioneer in the industry, offering lifetime free transfers to all customers since 2021.

As of the end of January, the “Rewards” menu at the bottom of the Toss app offers 35 services that allow users to accumulate cash-like points. New benefits are added daily, and users can check out and participate in ongoing events. Representative services include Toss Walk, Open Toss Together, and Purrfect Bites.

More than 40% of Toss users—appropxiatemly 11.5 million—use Toss Walk. Users engage with the feature an average of twice per week and walk around 5,000 steps per day. On average, users have accumulated about 2,900 KRW. Toss Walk provides points and lucky draw tickets based on predetermined step counts within a 10,000-step range.

Open Toss Together was first introduced in 2023 and quickly became a popular Toss benefit, even coining the trending term “Toss Hotspot (“Seong-ji”). It allows users to earn points when they are near others who also have the Toss app open. The user who accumulated the most points through this service last year earned approximately 70,000 KRW, while the average user earned about 3,400 KRW.

Purrfect Bites allows users to raise a virtual cat when making payments via Tosspay. Users receive items to care for their virtual cat, which can then be exchanged for e-coupons. Last year, the user who received the most e-coupons through this service collected 120 coupons. On average, each user earned about 2,700 KRW, which is enough to exchange for a hamburger e-coupon.

Today’s Luck and This Week’s Mission are also popular benefit services among Toss users. The user who accumulated the most points through these services saved approximately 990,000 KRW over the course of a year—equivalent to earning more than 2,700 KRW per day.

A Toss representative said, “Toss has been providing users with practical benefits across various areas, from financial services to everyday events. We will continue striving to offer user-friendly services that create a convenient and rewarding app experience.”
